Founded in 1795 and first known as Payne's Settlement, the Village of Hamilton celebrated its bicentennial in 1995. It has maintained its rich history while welcoming the changing times with each new class of Colgate first years. Hamilton was recently named one of the friendliest towns in America by Forbes Magazine. Campers will have the opportunity to do some exploring before the clinic and during the 1-hour lunch break to enjoy the family-owned restaurants and shops, and a friendly smile or two.
For those coming in from beyond driving distance, we recommend lodging at the Colgate Inn, located directly in the Village, or in nearby hotels in New Hartford, NY (25 miles), or Syracuse (40 miles). The easiest airport to fly in and out of is Syracuse airport, which is a quick hour drive to campus.
